Braden Green Named 2019 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands

Braden Green was diagnosed at birth with sickle cell hemoglobin SC disease, a genetic blood disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. Sickle cells contain abnormal hemoglobin, blocking blood flow in the blood vessels of the limbs and organs. This blood cell abnormality can cause Braden to experience pain and organ damage. Sickle cell disease also raises the risk of infection. He’s been visiting Children’s Hospital since he was 3 months old. By regularly visiting hematologist Dr. Carla, Braden with the help of his family is able to manage this lifelong, chronic disease.

As a proud member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1985, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands is honored to participate in the Champions program. One Miracle Kid from each Children’s Hospital is nominated to represent their local CMN Hospital by visiting partners and programs and sharing their story to inspire the community to support local kids. This year Braden Green is the 2019 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands. We are confident that Braden and his family will do an amazing job sharing the Children’s Hospital story and helping raise more funds to help local kids. Braden was presented with a medal during USCDM’s opening ceremonies. He can collect pins throughout the year that represent our partners and programs and display at the end of the year the good work he has done on behalf of all kids treated in the Midlands and beyond.

Braden says, “I look forward to meeting great friends of children’s hospital like all of you through my service as Champion this year! Thank you!”
