Miracle Balloons are Landing at Costco this May!

(l-r) Chris Applewhite, former front end supervisor, now with Costco in Apex, NC; Kevin Marshall, Marketing/Membership manager; Krystal Lorick, miracle mom; Nash Myers, warehouse manager; Ariana Lorick, miracle child treated at Children’s Hospital, and Lynn Hazel, CMN Hospitals director.

What do Costco Members + CMN Hospitals supporters have in common starting May 1? They are both able to share their love for each other by supporting CMN Hospitals at the register at Costco!

Costco will sell Miracle Balloons at their registers May 1-31 to raise vital funds for our children’s hospital. Since 1988, Costco Wholesale has raised more than $285.2 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Last year was the first fundraising campaign in the Midlands at the Costco located off Piney Grove Road in Columbia. The team raised more than $27,000 for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital! Funds raised at Costco provide things like Pediatric Kwik Kardz, meal vouchers, and car beds.

    • Pediatric Kwik Kardz are educational reference cards that provide important information on care and medication dosages for children with critical illnesses. Kwik Kardz were developed by Dr. Robert Hubbird, pediatric intensivist, Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital.
    • Meal vouchers are provided to patients and families with financial limitations during their hospitalization at Children’s Hospital. More than 2,846 families were given meal vouchers in 2017.
    • Car beds are provided for infants cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Premature babies and babies with medical conditions can travel safely in the car when it’s not possible to sit upright like in a standard car seat.

In addition to the ability to give at the register, Costco has planned fun, themed events throughout the month. For example, Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Nash Myers, warehouse manager, and Samuel Tenenbaum, Palmetto Health Foundation president will be “locked-up” in a scissor lift and unable to be “released” until they have raised $5,000. To help “bailout,” Nash and Samuel visit Costco and make a donation. Not a Costco member, no problem. You can receive a Preview Pass at the membership desk and make purchases as well as make a donation to help local kids treated at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. Special guests and friends of Children’s Hospital will be a part of the event.

Stop in on May 12 or anytime during the month of May and support kids treated at our hospital!
