We’re #StayingHomeFor Kids Like Braden

Wear. Share. Be a Changemaker. #stayinghomefor kids like Braden. #ChildrensHospitalsWeek

During #ChildrensHospitalsWeek we want to recognize the importance of children’s hospitals. Children’s hospitals are on the front lines in times of crisis. Now, they are helping vulnerable children deal with any complications they may face if they contract the virus. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals created #StayingHomeFor to showcase the role children’s hospitals play in the COVID-19 crisis, how individuals can help protect the most vulnerable kids and encourage others to share stories of their vulnerable kids or loved ones.

Braden was diagnosed at birth with sickle cell hemoglobin SC disease, a genetic blood disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. Sickle cells contain abnormal hemoglobin, blocking blood flow in the blood vessels of the limbs and organs. This blood cell abnormality can cause Braden to experience pain and organ damage. Sickle cell disease also raises the risk of infection. When making public health decisions, leaders think of kids like Braden, who would struggle with an illness like COVID-19. We’re staying home for kids like Braden. Who are you #StayingHomeFor and social distancing? Thank you for your continued support of children’s hospitals during #ChildrensHospitalsWeek. Together we can change kids’ health; together we can change the future.
Join me in celebrating #ChildrensHospitalsWeek. This week is all about helping kids and ensuring children’s hospitals have the funds they need to care for more than 10 million kids a year. Government and insurance programs don’t begin to cover these costs; that’s why donations are vital to children’s hospitals.
To celebrate the amazing things being done at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Midlands, we’re inviting you to help us April 6-12 in celebrating #ChildrensHospitalsWeek. Here are ways you can get involved.
